THERAPY FOR HIGH ACHIEVERS

Therapy for the ones
who hold it all together.

Perfectionism, people-pleasing, burnout — treated at the root

I'm Dr. Anna Huang, a licensed clinical psychologist. I work with high-achieving adults who look like they have it all together and feel tired, anxious, or hollow inside — in person in Los Alamitos or online across California.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE FROM THE INSIDE

You're doing fine. That's the problem.

From the outside there's nothing to fix. Inside, the machine never stops. Sound familiar?

Success on paper, hollow inside

The achievements keep coming, but the satisfaction doesn't. You hit the goal and feel relief for a day — then the bar moves again.

The perfectionism machine

You double-check, over-prepare, and replay conversations. Rest feels like something you have to earn, and 'good enough' has never once felt good.

Everyone's person, no one's

You're the one people come to. You manage how everyone feels. And there's almost no room in the pattern for what you actually need.

High-functioning anxiety

You get it all done — that's the trap. Underneath, your body has been braced for years, and 'keep it together' has become the only setting you know.

HOW THE WORK IS DIFFERENT

We're not here to optimize you further.

You've tried the apps, the hacks, the morning routines. This is the work underneath them — psychodynamic and attachment-oriented therapy that asks why achievement became safety in the first place.

01

Understand the engine

We look at where the drive came from — the family roles, expectations, and early experiences that taught you that being impressive was the price of belonging.

02

Achieve from choice, not fear

The goal isn't less ambition. It's ambition that isn't powered by anxiety — working from desire and values instead of dread of what happens if you stop.

03

Build a life that's yours

Guilt loosens. Rest stops feeling like failure. Decisions start coming from what you actually want — which is the whole point of all that achievement in the first place.

PERFECTIONISM · PEOPLE-PLEASING · BURNOUT

Named, understood, worked with — not managed

Perfectionism is not a personality trait; it's a survival strategy that stopped being chosen. Together we trace where it came from and loosen its grip — so excellence can stay while the fear leaves.

People-pleasing sounds gentle, but it quietly costs you your own preferences, boundaries, and relationships. We rebuild your ability to disappoint people and survive it — which turns out to be where real intimacy starts.

Burnout in high achievers rarely comes from working too hard. It comes from working too long for reasons that stopped being yours. We find out what the exhaustion is protecting — and what your life could feel like when it isn't running on fumes.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions high achievers often ask

Do you only work with high achievers?

Much of my practice is high-achieving adults and couples, but achievement is not an entry requirement. If the patterns — pushing, pleasing, performing, running on empty — sound like your life, this work is for you regardless of job title.

I don't know if I 'qualify' as a high achiever. Does that matter?

Not at all. Many clients who carry perfectionism or people-pleasing never call themselves high achievers. The fit is about the pattern, not the resume.

Is this therapy or coaching?

This is psychotherapy with a licensed clinical psychologist. We work at depth on the history under the patterns, and I can treat anxiety, depression, and other clinical concerns. Practical tools come too — but the foundation is deeper than performance strategies.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes — in person in Los Alamitos or virtual anywhere in California. Many clients mix both depending on the week.
